David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is unquestionably one of Nigeria’s wealthiest musicians, as well as one of the most successful and famous.

He attended British International School in Lagos before moving to Oakwood University in Alabama to pursue business administration at the age of 16.
While at Oakwood, Davido purchased musical equipment and began producing beats. He also formed the music group KB International with his cousins B-Red and Sina Rambo.
Davido dropped out of Oakwood University to focus only on music and traveled to London to perfect his vocals.
Davido suspended his music career after returning to Nigeria in 2011 and agreed to enroll in Babcock University to honor his father.
After his father sponsored the university to build a music department for an initial class of one student, he graduated from Babcock in July 2015 with a second class upper with a degree in music.
Davido’s studio debut single, “Back When,” was released in 2011, followed by “Dami Duro,” produced by Shizzi.
Following his first album, the DMW leader released his second studio album, “A Good Time,” in 2019, and his third studio album, “A Better Time,” in 2020, amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The album has surpassed 100 million streams on digital platforms since its release last year.
Davido has his own record label, Davido Music Worldwide, which he founded (DMW).
After signing a deal with Sony Music Inc. to release his music archives and songs on the international market, he founded his own label in 2016.
